Job Description:
Seeking an experienced IT Systems Administrator with a strong background in Linux system administration and Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tool management. This role will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing our engineering computing environment, including server administration, disk space management, user permissions, EDA tool installation/upgrades, and support ticket resolution. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of supporting a diverse set of IT needs in a semiconductor design environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Administer and maintain Linux-based servers, workstations, and infrastructure supporting semiconductor design workflows.
• Collaborate with engineering and IT teams to improve system reliability, performance, and security.
• Configure, audit, and maintain file system permissions for secure and efficient team access.
• Install, configure, and update EDA tools (Cadence, Synopsys, Siemens, etc.), ensuring toolchains and license servers remain operational.
• Manage license servers and ensure uptime of floating license services (FlexNet) critical for EDA tool access.
• Monitor and manage disk space usage across engineering systems, ensuring optimal performance and availability.
• Perform regular system health checks, backups, and patch management.
• Respond to and resolve IT support tickets in a timely manner, providing assistance for engineering applications and systems.
• Support additional IT-related tasks such as hardware setup, network troubleshooting, and software deployment.
Qualifications:
• 3+ years of experience in Linux system administration (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, or similar).
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
• Experience with disk management, file systems, and permissions in multi-user environments.
• Familiarity with EDA tools and workflows in semiconductor design (preferred).
• Proficiency with scripting languages (Bash, Python, or similar) for automation.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for hardware and software issues.
