Litigation Data Specialist



The Litigation Data Specialist will work on data collection for various key metrics that are specific to the Firm's Litigation matters. Under the Client Development & Marketing department, the person in this role will analyze data, identify insights, and present new business opportunities while they collaborate with colleagues across firm departments. The incumbent will support department initiatives and own projects in line with their strengths and passions. The Litigation Data Specialist reports to the Global Market Intelligence Manager, with a dotted line to the Global Director of Client Development.

Responsibilities include:

  • Review and research Litigation matters as they are opened and oversee tagging choices that are assigned during the matter open process.
  • Complete Litigation matter record in Foundation and ensure the matter record reflects new events and outcomes of the litigation case.
  • Audit, on a quarterly basis, all Litigation-related data tags to ensure that they are accurate throughout the lifecycle of a matter, and that they reflect a real-time view of all Litigation matters.
  • Coordinate closely with the Content, Intelligence and Client Development team to make sure that the data tagging approach remains consistent with their data collection process and complements their efforts.
  • Respond to RFI's from attorneys, Practice Management and Client Development teams in coordination with the Market Intelligence colleagues.
 
Qualifications:
  • Ability to problem solve and demonstrate ideas clearly through oral and written communication.
  • Familiarity with Life Cycle of a Litigation matter/case.
  • Familiarity with electronic court filings for state and federal district and appellate courts.
  • Understanding of Litigation Practice areas including Antitrust, Securities, White Collar, Intellectual Property, etc.
  • PACER, Westlaw, Courthouse News, Bloomberg Law, Lex Machina proficiency.
  • Foundation database knowledge preferred, or something similar (Content Pilot, etc.).
  • Advanced Excel knowledge required.

  Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; JD preferred.
  • Prior experience as a paralegal or managing attorney clerk a plus.
